Team Van Oord has released a directory covering a wide variety of health and wellbeing related issues, to act as a ‘go-to resource’ for its staff and workforce.
The directory covers a wide range of issues including: alcohol and drugs; anxiety, stress and depression; diet and healthy eating; exercise and physical activity; healthy hearts; men and women’s health; and long-term conditions including diabetes, arthritis and asthma.
The directory comprises a list of websites and other online resources, along with names of organisations that provide support and in some instances telephone numbers where help and advice can be sought.
The directory has been shared by Phil Ramsay, Team Van Oord National Framework Manager, who said:
“Team Van Oord is committed to the effective management of health and safety and the prevention of injury and ill health among our workforce.
“For us, this commitment does not end when our employees head for home at the end of a day’s work. We see it as our responsibility to try and support colleagues who may have health issues that are not related to the tasks they perform at work.
“If our employees are happy and healthy in general, they will undoubtedly perform better at work. This is one of the reasons we and our partners take a holistic approach to employee wellbeing – it is better for them, better for us as a company, and ultimately better for our clients and others who benefit from the work we undertake.
“That’s why we regularly engage and consult with employees regarding health and safety and provide advice and supervision on occupational health and welfare issues.”
An indication as to how seriously health and wellbeing are taken at Team Van Oord, is the fact that the company’s chairman, Maurits den Broeder, assumes overall responsibility for health, safety and welfare, supported by the company’s QHSE department and external consultants as required.
