TVO gears up for Flood & Coast 2018

TVO flood and coast 2018

Under the theme ‘Risk, resilience and response in a changing climate’, Flood & Coast 2018 will once again set out to advance the debate about flood and coast erosion between government bodies, local authorities, major infrastructure and asset managers and affected communities.

Now in its third year, Flood and Coast is the major annual gathering of UK flood and coastal erosion risk management professionals. More than 1,500 professionals are expected to attend the event across the three days.

Team Van Oord partner Van Oord is once again a gold sponsor of the event, which takes place at the International Centre Telford on 20-22 March.

Embracing the concept of ‘a changing climate’ the 2018 event draws on expertise and experience from different geographies – not only within the UK.

Flood & Coast brings together specialists in the supply chain that deliver technology and solutions to control the increasing risk of flood and rising sea levels around our coasts to spread best practice, discuss new ways of working and deliver excellence in FCERM.

A three-day programme of workshops, presentations, debate and panel sessions focusing on topics selected by a panel of government and industry experts is accompanied by a trade show and exhibition which provides unrivalled networking opportunities.

Van Oord (Stand D10) will also participate in the exhibition alongside other exhibitors including the Environment Agency (Stand B11).

The conference programme features Shirel Stedman, Director of Advisory Group Water – Europe at Team Van Oord partner company Royal Haskoning DHV.

Shirel, who was also a Board member of the Chartered institute of Water Environment and Management, will participate in a workshop titled ‘Women in FCERM’, in which women who are passionate about working in flood, coast and water management will offer advice and support for others on developing their career.

The workshop is scheduled for Wednesday 21 March, 16:30-17:45 – click here for more details.

The conference dinner will once again feature the Environment Agency Project Excellence Awards Ceremony, with categories ranging from programme and project delivery to innovation, efficiency and sustainable resource management.

In 2016, TVO picked up the Project Excellence Innovation Award for the £30m Broomhill Sands Coastal Defence Scheme which was delivered by TVO on behalf of the Environment Agency.
